Johor Bahru proudly hosted its first-ever WordCamp — a historic milestone for the local WordPress community in southern Malaysia. With a heart full of excitement and a venue buzzing with energy, WordCamp Johor Bahru 2025 brought together WordPress enthusiasts, developers, designers, marketers, and learners from all over the world for a day of knowledge sharing, inspiration, and connection.
From Planning to Reality: A Community Effort
Planning began months in advance with a small but passionate organizing team who believed Johor Bahru was ready to join the global WordCamp map. Originally designed for 150 attendees, the overwhelming interest and support from the community led us to release more tickets — reaching a final total of 169 tickets sold.
On the conference day, 144 attendees checked in early, marking an impressive 85% attendance rate. A true sign of excitement and dedication from the community!
Attendee Registration & Check-in
The energy was already high from the moment registration opened at 8:00 AM. Our amazing volunteer team worked efficiently to check in attendees with a smooth and secure registration system. Most of our attendees showed up early, with a final turnout of 144 attendees out of 169 registered tickets, resulting in an impressive 85% attendance rate. This clearly showed the excitement and commitment of our community.
The check-in system also verified each participant’s unique ticket ID to ensure security and transparency—making it a professional start to our first-ever WordCamp in Johor Bahru.
Diverse Speakers, Global Reach
We welcomed speakers from 15 different countries, turning our single-day WordCamp into what many called a “mini WordCamp Asia” Each speaker brought a unique perspective, sharing insights on WordPress development, design, performance, accessibility, community building, and more.
Track 1
Track 1 was buzzing with energy from start to finish — the hall was filled, and attendees were seen checking the schedule regularly to ensure they didn’t miss their favorite talks.
Track 2
Track 2 featured an innovative setup with individual displays, allowing every attendee to comfortably view speaker slides, even from the back. The feedback on this unique setup was phenomenal!
A Foodie’s Delight
From breakfast to lunch, and right through to the after-party, one thing was unanimous: the food was a hit! So much so that a few attendees humorously dubbed the event “FoodCamp Johor Bahru.” Delicious local dishes and thoughtful refreshments made everyone feel welcome and cared for.
Pre-Event Welcome Night
The night before the conference, we hosted a Welcome Night Dinner where 21 sponsors, speakers, organizers, and volunteers gathered to get to know each other in a casual setting. It was a warm evening of community bonding, laughter, and shared excitement for the day ahead.
